Become a Climate Champion

Okyeame Kwame Foundation is a nongovernmental organisation in Ghana founded by Okyeame Kwame, an award-winning musician, author, Climate activist and health advocate. Okyeame Kwame who won the first ever developmental award for any musician, who has also worked on Red Plus with Forestry Commission and world-bank sponsored programme Dedicated Grant Mechanism (DGM) has initiated an action, as part of his contribution to mitigate again negative climate practices to visit 16 regions in Ghana, 100 schools to select 2000 climate champions, create clubs in the schools and engage them to influence other students and their surroundings positively to embrace healthy climate practices.
The set target is to be achieved within a year; and then scale up the target.

Currently, Okyeame Kwame and the Foundation have visited the schools below:

       1. Kwabenya Senior High School
       2. St. John’s Grammer School
       3. Kaneshie Cluster of Schools
           (which includes 5 schools)
       4. Osu Cluster of Schools
           (which includes 5 schools)
       5. Martin De Porres School

Leading to 22nd July, which is World Climate Emergency Day, Okyeame Kwame Foundation, organised a peaceful walk, led by Okyeame Kwame, taking 500 students, some climate conscious NGOs and other climate enthusiasts to Parliament to petition parliamentarians through the climate caucus to be more ambitious in setting with climate goals.

On 22nd July which was the World Climate Emergency Day Celebration,  Okyeame Kwame hosted a group of Climate Change makers including UN resident coordinator,  Charles Abani, Country Director for Solidaridad, Bossman Owusu, Gan Golan, co-creator of the climate clock and climate strategist at climate clock, Dr Winston Asante, consultant and lecturer ate Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology among others to discuss with the publics about the urgency of climate action 

The activations used the hashtag #actintime 

In the past, Okyeame Kwame, who attended COP26 actively took part in a march in Glasgow and represented the youth at the event.
